GREEN VALLEY COMMUNITY PRIDE DAY

Service since Fall 2015

In 2016, the Green Valley Council formally co-sponsored a Green Valley Community Pride Day with the Green Valley/Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce.  Members of the Chamber and Council had coordinated a clean-up two abandoned gas stations, that is, the Shell Station on Camino del Sol and the Texaco Station on Esperanza Boulevard, in 2015.  The event was so successful that another was scheduled in October 2016 to clean up a year’s worth of trash at the same locations.

In 2017, the Green Valley Economic Development Management Group (GVED) has identified the appearance and beautification of Green Valley as a strong economic driver for long-term sustainability of Green Valley.  Although applications to secure grant awards have not yet been successful, the need for an annual or biannual Green Valley Community Pride Day has been recognized by the Green Valley Council, Green Valley Recreation, and the Green Valley/ Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce who have agreed to co-sponsor another clean-up event this fall.
