Places to Go

Whether you like dining, hiking, touring by bike or car, visiting natural or historic parks, or just being “on-the-go,” Green Valley and its southern surrounds offer a wealth of opportunities. Southern Arizona is rich with history, the beauty of nature and environmentally sensitive areas. You can tour the old Tubac Presidio, one of the few remaining presidio sites still open to the public, or you can go wine tasting in Sonoita and its environs to experience our growing viticulture. Explore beautiful Madera Canyon and both watch and listen to its wide variety of birds. The Green Valley is located in one of the busiest bird migration paths in the nation. You can be underground visiting our caverns or 8000 feet up exploring our mountains. We host several observatories as well as the only remaining Titan missile site which you can tour and relive (or learn about) the cold war and the constant fear of a nuclear war. Our air and space museum is also outstanding. Southern Arizona is filled with small towns just a day trip away who have distinctive histories, such as Bisbee (mining) and Tombstone (Wyatt Earp and the bad boys). Pick up a copy of Discover Southern Arizona which is published annually and explores the things to do, towns to visit and places to see in and around Green Valley.
