Included in our Board of Reps meeting this month will be a presentation on prop #463 and how it will affect Green Valley Road Preservation.

The Executive Committee of the Green Valley Council strongly supports Proposition 463. Over 66% of Green Valley’s roads are rated as “failed or poor” and it will take an estimated $14.1 million to bring them up to standard.  The property tax increase of 25 cents per $100 enacted last year was not a viable method– it would take 30 years to repair our roads.  A sales tax increase failed to even be sent to the voters. The only viable solution left is Proposition 463.

Proposition 463 would cost Green Valley residents, and the other residents of Pima County, nothing in additional taxes.  Because the Board of Supervisors is passing Proposition 463 on to the voters, it repealed the special $ .25 per $100 that was added last year.  We just might end up with our taxes going down a little bit!

If Proposition 463 passes, the 10 Year Road Plan devised by the Pima County Transportation Advisory Committee and Pima County would go into effect.  The first few years of that plan focus on fixing failed roads, which would really help those areas, like Green Valley, that have a lot of failed roads.  We could see our roads repaired and, for the first time in decades, attractive by 2025.  Attractive, well-kept roads increase the value of all of our property.  They also increase our personal enjoyment of our community and prevent car damage.

Would you love to see your road pothole free and smooth in your lifetime? If so, vote for Proposition 463.
