The Green Valley Council is the public voice for Green Valley, Arizona
The Green Valley Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce (GVSCC) and Visitor Center Board of Directors has announced the rescheduling of the inaugural Santa Cruz Valley International Professional Rodeo, originally scheduled for September 2017 at Pima Mine Road and Old Nogales Highway, to fall of 2018.
The announcement on April 21 that the southbound I-19 ramp at Pima Mine Road in Sahuarita will be closed from April 26, 2017 through April 2018 would impact easy accessibility to the event. That, in conjunction with a commitment to put on a world-class rodeo event for the community, weighed heavily in the decision by the board toreschedule the event until 2018.
The goal of the rodeo is to support tourism and economic development, preserve Southern Arizona’s rodeo and ranching heritage, and foster cultural diversity and international relations with Mexico.
The GVSCC Board of Directors expresses tremendous gratitude for the time, energy and expertise invested by a passionate group of volunteers dedicated to the project’s success, and is committed to the 2018 debut of the rodeo as an annual signature community event for our region.
