Chapter 6 – On November 13, 1969, the Green Valley News reported that the Coordinating Committee was conducting a study of Green Valley for incopoaation versus formation of a fire district or irrigation district. With acceptance of Foothills Townhouses HoA in 1969, the Coordinating Committee members now totaled four plus three institutional members 0—CRAGV, GV Development Corporation and Bates-Springer for FHA.
The census in 1970 was 2,889 residents. The sheriff’s office reported that there would be three deputies on duty and that a substation was being established. There was also the Rural Fire Department Station with three regular employees and Bates-Springer employees serving as reserves. The GV Development Corporation withheld its approval of a proposed Circle K on La Canada unless the structure would confirm to the approved Spanish style and their request for a liquor license was denied by the state.
The Coordinating Committee formed a medical study group to investigate the medical situation. Mr. Charles Bonnet chaired a Civic Study Committee to cover the issues of boundaries, Governmental organization, engineering, public works and finance in connection with looking at incorporation. On September 9, the Green Valley News reported that Mr. Bonnet had presented the results of a nine-month study. On October 27, the Green Valley News reported that the Apartment Dwellers Association opposed incorporation.
